Working?

Postby Peter88 » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:24 am

Hi,

Such a shame I only just discovered Extract.. would have been an enormous help to me.
In theory anyway. I have installed it. it does find my sky drive, but left click and.... nothing... since everyone else has it working, it must be my fault (though I have to blame my computer) any suggestions?

On a personal note, to Neil...I'm sorry you experienced that side of people.. I have also found it disheartening to find my own efforts going unrewarded. Some times just a thank you would have been nice..

It isn't working for me... but 'thank you' all the same.. :)

Where are you left clicking? You have a list of programs in the bottom pane? If so select Actions from the menu bar and then extract?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the thanks :)

Development on +Extract isn't completely dead in the water - other things are just more important to me right now.

The first thing +Extract does is try to single out your Sky+ HDD and parse its contents. If this is successful you should see a list of recordings on the drive with a coloured icon representing its encrypted status:
Green - not encrypted
Red - encrypted
Amber - can't determine

If you don't see the list, try using an older version of +Extract. I'm pretty sure all public versions are hosted on the main site here.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt replies.
I get a list of my drives, the (ex)sky drive has a green 'tick'. I thought the instruction is to left click this? Then the word 'analyse' should pop up? This is what isn't happening. I am certainly not seeing any list of recordings.

Thanks

Peter

I don't think I click 'analyse' with the latest version (although there was an analyse buttun in previous versions). I think I just click, or perhaps double click, the green tick?
Did you try any of the previous versions?
As a test, did you run Copy+ and can that identify your recordings?

Hi,

I haven't figured out which previous version to download.
Yes, I tried copy+ it doesn't like the drive. Shows it as a sky drive... the when I try to look at it says it is wrong file format.

I have clicked , double clicked asked it nicely.. clicked everything in sight. Nothing.
I am assuming that Vista has done something to the drive file system. All the folders are there.. both programs identify it as a Sky drive. But that is all.

Probably won't make any difference. If Copy+ is complaining, then there is something wrong.
Most of these sorts of problems are fixable though - just needs a little investigation and patience.

Don't put it back in the Sky box then.

Sorry, I only speak cockney :o

If we could start with the Copy+ log file from an attempt to detect your drive. C:\Program Files\Copy+\Copy+.log
Please QUIT Copy+ before taking a copy of the log - or it will be empty or incomplete.

Thanks for that.
Unfortunately not really a lot of information there :?
To investigate further I'd need an image of your drive - Can I send you a program for this?
