Unable to extract from upgraded SkyHD drive

Having problems with +Extract? Ask in here

Postby neildo » Tue Jun 10, 2008 9:57 pm

Hi Andy,

I've had a number of reports of similar nature in the last week or so - I suspect that Sky have altered something in their filesystem thats now broken +Extract's behaviour.

I haven't had a disk out of my v2 Pace for nearly a whole year now so haven't checked.

Wondering if Copy+ users are seeing the same behaviour? Could you fire up Copy+ and see if it can copy your problem drive?

Neil.

Unable to extract from upgraded SkyHD drive

Postby watlina » Tue Jun 10, 2008 10:31 pm

I've been using +Extract with my SkyHD with excellent results, the .str once converted to .mpg play back great on my http://www.popcornhour.com

I kept filling up the original 300Gb so I've just put a bigger drive in. I got Samsung 750Gb for about £61 from eBuyer. I used Copy+ to move everything across to the new drive and it works fine in the SkyHD

But although +Extract can see the drive and tries to read it there must be something subtly different as it sees the JOPA entries and the recording directory but can't properly get the extract info from each recording.

This is the same for old recordings moved over and any subsequent ones made to the new drive.

Thanks

Andy

Log output (truncated for posting as it just carries on not finding extract info)

Neil,

I think it's probably most likely something to do with the now greater than standard disk size upsetting +Extract as I can still correctly read the recordings on the old 300Gb disk with +Extract and I only took that out on Saturday.

Another possibility is the way Copy+ has transferred/structured the files as they moved over but it's not just the copied over recordings I can't read it's also any new ones made to the new 750Gb drive +Extract can't see either. The odd thing is the SkyHD is working perfectly with either disk.

I don't know how these specialist XTV formats work but would the larger disk size force a larger sector size that would have an effect?

As you suggest I'll have a look at the new drive with Copy+ and see if it can read it back

Cheers

Andy
